FIVE YEARS OUT
I was able, not long ago
To move easily through each day
Now I'm not so strong or steady
Rigid frozen limbs
Symptoms of my disease
Ending much work or play
Patience required for there is
No hurry anymore
Meds help me stand, hold my hand
From dawn until after dusk\
Enable me to move in cold or heat
It looks like my life,
But I am not present
I was humbled by a young man
Who offered me his seat on a bus?
I'll sit inside until friends arrive
Days shuffling time, steal from dawn
Rob dusk a little time for idleness
All of life is couched in play
It is my feet that barely slide
Me to my chair and a narcoleptic nap
