CATS
Amazing to watch are our beloved feline pets
Cats, cats, cats as wild as a domestic pet gets
Cats don't trampoline and lose cool composure
Or risk reputations with too much exposure
Cats despise falling onto lawn or driveway
Hate motorcycle rides despite what neighbors say
Steal Purina then deny when caught
Disrupt marble games where tiger eyes are shot
Cats burglar baubles demand high ransom
Catch mice and fowl without fingers or thumb
Rarely entertain, more catcher of prey than host
Invite guests for meal of young rat on toast
Sixeen years ago a tom, looking for a meal
stayed until we made a deal
We agreed "Marvin" fit our new cat best
a limp set him apart from the rest
Marvin a talker was not improbable
His long stories were beyond remarkable
He moved from alley to master bedroom
He is with St. Francis where our roses bloom
Marvin and we become companions on his terms
He would sleep warm with a dog if dog learns
He loved it when some one petted his fur
Gently awakened would stretch and purr.
