Repentance Luke 13:1-9

Jesus issues a warning: There is a fate for sinners that is far worse than violence or accidents. and that is eternal separation from God. Today, in this life, our sin separates us from all God has for us.

My mother used to make salmon croquets for us. She would take canned salmon, cracker crumbs, an egg and make her croquets. And for years that was good and that was salmon. For years I could get excited about canned salmon. Then in 1991 I took a mission trip to Alaska and ate fresh day it was caught salmon. It is hard to look at a can of salmon today because I have had the real thing.

Our ultimate concern is Not violence Not accidents but repentance. Without repentance we are only looking at the can and not even coming close to the real experiences of God. There will never be revival or renewal or transformation until there is broken heart repentance.

Repentance expresses the desire to return to relationship to be face to face with God.

Repentance means change as we become dissatisfied with our old broken self.

Repentance means we are tired of being bottom feeding, living on the dregs, dealing pain and grief kind of people.

Repentance we get off canned Christianity and we fish out of the living waters.

Repentance means we will no longer be complicit in another’s evil agenda.
